Motion Control Engineering, the industry’s leading manufacturer of non-proprietary elevator controls, and member of the Kinetek group of companies, has announced that Julian Barnett, a 22-year elevator industry veteran, has joined MCE as European sales manager.

Barnett has spent the majority of his career with Otis Elevator in the UK— generating a stellar track record in a variety of sales, service & repair and modernization roles. Ashur Kanon, MCE senior vice president, was pleased to announce Barnett’s appointment and noted that he brings significant skills and experience to the position. “Julian’s strong background in electrical engineering and sales makes him the perfect choice to lead our European sales efforts.”

In his new role, Barnett will focus on driving market share throughout Europe and expanding the complete line of Kinetek elevator and escalator products in the European marketplace. According to Kanon, Barnett will focus on Imperial Electric’s 400 and 500 series gearless line; KDS’s global ACPM product line; and MCE’s controller family (iControl, IMC, PTC, Tricon), destination-based dispatching, and escalator controllers.

Barnett’s experience includes senior account manager positions with Otis Manchester—where he focused on new equipment sales, and six years with Otis Liverpool in the service department. Early in his Otis career he held electrical test and sales engineer positions in Liverpool and Cardiff. His noteworthy accomplishments include securing the new elevator contract for Disneyland Paris and service contract for the UK’s Blackpool Tower high rise complex.

Kenneth Munson, vp business development and marketing for MCE parent company Kinetek, leads the business development efforts for Kinetek companies in Europe. “I am excited that Julian has joined the team in Europe. His technical background, service experience, and strong sales and business development record will significantly help advance MCE products in Europe.”

Most recently, Barnett served as the northern regional sales manager for Quality Lifts Products Group, and was directly responsible for a 22% increase in new equipment sales. Barnett is based in Manchester, England.
