Rancho Cordova, CA Motion Control Engineering (MCE), the world's leading manufacturer of non-proprietary elevator controls, has announced that its VFMC-1000 Series M (Traction) and HMC-1000 Series (Hydraulic) controllers have been safety assessed and certified by Ontario Canada's Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) for compliance to the stringent elevator controller standards within the Canadian elevator safety code CSA B44-00.

MCE is the first controller manufacturer to receive TSSA's highly coveted certification of compliance with CSA B44-00-the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. ASME A17.1-2000 standard. TSSA is the only third party certification service for determining compliance with elevator safety codes based in North America.

MCE President and COO, Majid Rahimian, was pleased with TSSA's action. "Certification by TSSA shows that MCE remains ahead of the curve in providing the marketplace with high performing elevator controls that meet today's rigorous compliance standards. We are very pleased to have received this important designation."

Jerry Rich, MCE's Vice President of Sales, noted that as a result of TSSA certification, "Elevator contractors within Ontario's jurisdiction will now experience a streamlined approval and installation process-and the cost benefits that go with it."

Roland Hadaller, TSSA's Manager of Engineering for Fuels, Elevating and Amusement Devices Safety Programs, commented that this is a "win" "win" for MCE and TSSA. By having the control design reviewed and certified prior to manufacturing, there will be no surprises during the actual job submission review, and costly field modifications will be avoided.

MCE has long been at the forefront of code compliance-through participation on ASME A17 committees and membership in NAESA-and by dedicating staff to understand code issues and status of compliance by jurisdiction throughout North America and the world
