January 15, 2001

Grand Rapids, MI - Gear Research Inc., a division of Imperial Electric, announces the immediate availability of battery powered, traction drives for the floor care and material handling industries.

The "Chassisdrive" Model 12 is specifically designed as a self-contained, single wheel drive unit. It is available with either a 1 hp ventless field wound motor or a 1 hp ventless permanent magnet motor in 24 and 36 volts, linked to a double reduction 36:1 gear box. The assembly will rotate through 90 off center. A 6" mechanical disk brake for parking and service duty is an available option.

To accommodate anticipated operating environments, the unit is equipped with a 12" x 4" x 8" X-grooved tire available in rubber, non-marking rubber or wet traction P7 compound. A simple "bolt on and plug in" procedure offers easy assembly of this drive to the applications. Other design features include high-quality seals and bearings, hunter tooth helical gearing, lithium-based lubrication and a main housing that is cast in corrosion-resistant aluminum.

Gear Research is an established manufacturer of quality gear and drive systems for a variety of industrial applications. Imperial Electric produces a full line of high-performance permanent magnet electric motors, transaxles and power drive systems used in floor care products, elevators, escalators and power reels, forklifts and other types of lift equipment including wire rope hoists.
